Bangladesh’s socio-economic success story is inspiring. Bangladesh is an attractive place for foreign investment as well as Swiss investors in the ICT sector.
This was stated by Swiss Ambassador to Bangladesh Nathalie Shaikh while participating in a webinar jointly organized by Bangladesh Association of Software and Information Services (BASIS) and Switzerland Bangladesh Chamber of Commerce (SBCCI).
Speaking on the occasion, BASIS President Syed Almas Kabir said Bangladesh has become a lucrative destination for investment since the formulation of the Digital Bangladesh Policy. Bangladesh is now a potential destination for outsourcing with skilled manpower.
Md. Zafar Uddin, senior Secretary of the Ministry of Commerce took part in the webinar as the chief guest. He said, ICT has been mentioned as a high potential sector in Bangladesh’s export policy. Exports are expected to exceed 5 billion in a few years.
Mushfiqur Rahman, Co-President of BASIS, gave a presentation on various aspects of the IT industry in Bangladesh.
A total of 82 BASIS member organizations and 20 SBCCI member organizations participated in this webinar. The meeting hoped that some more Switzerland-based initiatives will be taken to expand the business of Bangladeshi companies in collaboration with BASIS, SBCCI and embassies, and greatly increase export earnings and investment from this sector in the future.
