Exports of engineering equipment and electronic products increased in the first nine months of the current financial year amid a new outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic.
This figure of the country’s export earnings came up in the updated figures released by the Export Promotion Bureau (EPB) on Tuesday.
According to the EPB, Bangladesh earned 129.68 million US dollars by exporting engineering parts and electronic products during July-March of the 2020-21 fiscal year.
Of this, 67.29 million US dollar was earned from engineering equipment and 513.3 million dollars from electronic products.
Compared to the same period last year, revenue from engineering equipment has increased by more than 26 percent and that of electronic products by more than 48 percent.
In the current financial year, the government had set a target of exporting goods worth 145 million dollars in these two sectors. The government’s target from July to March was 103.39 million dollars.
In the financial year 2019-20, the income from the export of engineering parts and electronic products was 105.76 million dollars.
According to the EPB, during July-March of the fiscal year 2020-21, Bangladesh earned 2,693.63 million by exporting goods, which is 12 percent less than the same period of the previous year.
