After the Union Digital Centers, the ICT Department launched the Digital Services, Employment and Training (D-SET) Centers. State Minister for ICT Zunaid Ahmed Palak inaugurated the D-SET Centers at 2 former enclaves in Panchagarh and Kurigram districts on Monday.
Palak while inaugurating the centers said, the two centers were set up as a pilot project as part of the implementation of the initiative to set up 555 Digital Service and Employment Training Centers at Upazila and district levels across the country under the Establishing Digital Connectivity Project.
In his keynote address, the state minister called upon the government and responsible public representatives, including teachers and programmers, to ensure that ordinary students can become self-reliant by acquiring skills in IT. He emphasized ensuring that students can use digital labs properly after opening schools.
Zunaid Ahmed Palak further assured that the people of the region will get digital services of the government through these centers. Young people will be trained in modern technology. We want to develop them as a tech-savvy generation by giving them opportunities for self-employment.
Under the EDC project, the ICT department has already taken the initiative to bring high-speed broadband internet in 1 lakh and 9 thousand government and non-government institutions including 75,000 primary schools, 35,000 secondary and higher secondary educational institutions and 3,500 land offices, he added.
Palak also said that D-SET will be set up in the Char-Bill-Haor area with the support of the Danish government.
Senior Secretary of Information and Communication Technology Department NM Ziaul Alam presided over the function. Panchagarh-1 MP Md Mazharul Haque Pradhan, Kurigram-2 MP Panir Uddin Ahmed and Director General of Information Department ABM Arshad Hossain addressed the function.
Additional Deputy Commissioner of Kurigram Hafizur Rahman and Additional Deputy Commissioner of Panchagarh Md. Azad Khan also spoke at the event.
Deputy Director of the Information Department Firoz Sarkar delivered his welcome speech on the occasion.
