Bangladesh LPG Autogas Station and Conversion Workshop Owners Association has demanded withdrawal of duty on import of raw materials of domestic industry in Liquefied Natural Gas (LPG) sector. At the same time, the organization has raised the possibility of converting government vehicles to LPG, converting motorcycles to LPG to expand the scope of LPG business.
These demands came up during the discussion of the annual general meeting of Bangladesh LPG Autogas Station and Conversion Workshop Owners Association at RAOWA Club in Mohakhali of the capital on Saturday (May 18).
Engineer Mohammad Sirajul Mawla, president of the organization said that we have presented two strong demands in the pre-budget discussion of NBR for 2023-2024 in the general meeting. The demand is two-fold – withdrawal of duty on domestic industry raw materials for supply of capital equipment to LPG sector and duty-free facility for LPG Autogas stations for 10 years. The conference also called for further reduction in the price of LPG at the consumer level, withdrawal of 7 percent duty and removal of existing barriers or restrictions in the way of conversion.
About 500 LPG Autogas station owners from across the country, representatives of various energy trade associations and representatives of FBCCI participated in the conference.
General Secretary Md. Hasin Parvez and other leaders of the committee presented the past year’s activities and future plans of the association in the annual general meeting. The meeting was conducted by the Office Secretary of the organization Md. Mokbul Hossain.
The speakers in the meeting raised the logical demands including business-friendly policy, removal of all licensing complications, withdrawal of VAT and various initiatives to expand the scope of LPG Autogas business.
Bangladesh LPG Autogas Station and Conversion Workshop Owners Association announced the results of bi-annual elections for the next two years as the term of the previous Executive Committee expired. In the election, a total of 23 posts of Executive Committee including Eng. Mohammad Sirajul Mawla as President and General Secretary Md. Hasin Parvez were announced.
