The National Museum of Science and Technology Trust is going to give a grant of Tk 65 lakh for 50 educational institutions and university-based science clubs of the country. The grant was approved at the 21st meeting of the Science and Technology Development Trustee Board under the National Museum of Science and Technology-NMST held on Wednesday, April 24, at the meeting room of NMST Complex building. The meeting was presided over by the Minister of Science and Technology Architect Yeafesh Osman.
Member Secretary of the Board of Trustees and Director General of National Museum of Science and Technology, Mohammad Munir Chowdhury presided over the meeting. He said that the check will be distributed later among the approved institutions in the meeting.
While as the president of the board, the Minister of Science and Technology Architect Yafes Osman said that the present government has been working for the welfare of people and development of science and technology for the past 15 years. The government is encouraging marginal educational institutions to practice science through grants from the board of trustees. The Ministry of Science and Technology has taken multifaceted steps to realize Bangabandhu’s dream of building a science-minded nation. By dint of the information technology, students from rural areas of Bangladesh are now observing the whole world.
Besides, science awareness is being created through traveling science exhibitions in various districts and Upazilas through museum bus and movie bus of science museum.
He also said that creating people is a difficult task. No nation can progress without positive mentality and integrity. As part of the practical education of science, this grant is being given for the purchase of scientific equipment in various educational institutions as given before.
