On Tuesday, April 16, the State Minister for Posts, Telecommunications and Information Technology Zunaid Ahmed Palak participated in the ‘Oracle Cloud World Tour Singapore’ program with Jay Evans, the Global Chief Information Officer and Executive Vice-President of Oracle. in a discussion on ‘Using AI to Create Intelligent Cloud’ and conveyed the Smart outline of Bangladesh announced by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
The state minister said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, we have been able to implement Digital Bangladesh in a very short time. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina announced the program of building Smart Bangladesh on the path of success in the implementation of Digital Bangladesh. It aims to transform into an inclusive, innovative, sustainable, knowledge-based smart nation by 2041 based on the four main pillars of Smart Citizen, Smart Economy, Smart Government and Smart Society. We have different policies, partnerships with different stakeholders. Smart Bangladesh of the future will be built in coordination with industry, government and academia.
He said that due to the implementation of digital system, 2500 services have been digitized by launching more than 52 thousand websites in Bangladesh. Currently, there are about 7 lakh IT freelancers in Bangladesh. The IT/ITES sector has created 2 million youth jobs and generated export earnings of $2 billion. He also said that in the future, all sectors including agriculture, education, health, transport will be managed more efficiently through the use of advanced technology.
State Minister Palak said, in this era of fourth industrial revolution, technology like artificial intelligence has become a part of our daily life. AI is being legislated with everything in mind. Besides, we have drafted Cyber Security Act, Personal Data Protection Act and now we are launching some frontier technology-based government services at the same time. We are following the path of how we can meet the needs of the private sector in the industry by developing our strategies and introducing new legislation.
The state minister said, we have decided to launch four generated pre-trained transformer GPT services on constitution, education, health and investment. All our GPT tools are supported by Oracle. Going to be hosted on our government cloud, at the same time we are partnering with Oracle Academy and Universities to provide free computing training to our students. State Minister Palak said, we organized the hackathon to capture ideas from young entrepreneurs and innovators and fulfill their dreams. As a result, private entrepreneurs are linked to the government system. Therefore, we have been able to achieve all these achievements in a short period of time by partnering with the private sector and multinational leaders, he said.
Highlighting the success of Digital Bangladesh, the State Minister said, we have developed our education and health services, we have built all our government services on the basis of cloud first approach. Highlighting Oracle’s contribution in providing digital government services, the state minister also said, Bangladesh’s first government cloud, which we launched in partnership with Oracle. Oracle has significant contributions to cloud storage, processing facilities and all these AI fusion facilities including seamless delivery and security of our services.
