650 artists have started painting Baisakhi Alpona on the 14 km road in Haor region of Kishoreganj with a hope to set a world record. Former culture minister and cultural personality Asaduzzaman Noor MP inaugurated the initiative as the chief guest at Mithamain Zero Point on Friday afternoon. An initiative has been taken to draw this alpona on the 14 km All-weather Road from Mithamain zero point to Ashtogram zero point.
The joint venture of Asiatic Experiential Marketing Limited, Banglalink Digital Communications Limited and Berger Paints Bangladesh Limited has named this event ‘Alponay Boishakh 1431’.
On April 6, a press conference was organized at the Daily Star Center in Dhaka conveying the details about the arrangement. The organizers announced that to spread the charm of Boisakh, an initiative has been taken to draw Alpana in three areas of the country including Dhaka.
Meanwhile, the drawing which started on Friday in Mithamain will end on Sunday. On Saturday, the drawing begins simultaneously at Manik Mia Avenue in the capital Dhaka and Shib Bari intersection in Khulna.
While inaugurating the initiative at Mithamain Zero Point, Asaduzzaman Noor MP said that after drawing the alpana on this road, he will take the initiative to register it as a world record. He appreciated this arrangement.
Kishoreganj-4 Constituency Member of Parliament Rezwan Ahmad Tawfiq presided over the inauguration and painter Moniruzzaman, Berger Paint Limited Director Mohsin Habib Chowdhury, Banglalink Limited Chief Human Resource Officer Manjula Morshed, Kishoreganj Zilla Parishad Chairman Advocate Zillur Rahman, Detective Police (DB) Chief and DIG Md. Harun Or Rashid, Deputy Commissioner of Kishoreganj Abul Kalam Azad, Superintendent of Police Russell Sheikh, UNO Mithamain, Md. Ershad Mia, General Secretary of Upazila Awami League Sameer Kumar Baishnab, Vice President. Shahjahan Mia, Vice Chairman of Upazila Parishad Md. Ibrahim Miah, Mithamain Sadar UP Chairman Advocate Sharif Kamal and others were present at the event.
