VEON, the parent company of Banglalink and one of the world’s digital operators, has achieved ‘AA’ ESG rating in recognition of its outstanding contribution to environmental, social and governance (ESG) activities. This recognition was given by Morgan Stanley Capital International (MSCI), a company that provides support and services to investment institutions in making important decisions.
This information was informed in a press release sent by the mobile operator on Thursday.
Banglalink CEO, Erik Aas said, “VEON’s ‘AA’ rating not only signifies Banglalink’s commitment to the ‘4G for All’ initiative, but also recognizes its unique role in ensuring innovative digital services for all. At the core of Banglalink’s activities are ensuring a conducive work environment for all, taking initiatives for diversity and inclusion and working with dedication to protect environmental balance.”
“This achievement places VEON in the ‘Leading’ category out of 131 telecommunications services companies worldwide, demonstrating its commitment to sustainable and ethical business practices,” he added.
Banglalink said, in the context of Bangladesh, Banglalink has already extended the benefits of digital services to a large number of people in the country through the implementation of their ‘4G for All’ programme. These efforts continue to contribute significantly to the country’s digital transformation and to the government’s “Smart Bangladesh” goal. The company also plans to increase the number of women employees by 3 percent to 29 percent by 2026 as part of its ESG agenda.
