On Thursday at afternoon, the Bangladesh Hi-Tech Park Authority has distributed the allotment papers and signed contracts in favor of 3 investors in Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Hi-Tech Park in Rajshahi, the silk city. In the same event, the state minister for Posts, Telecommunications and ICT, Zunaid Ahmed Palak distributed prize money among the winning teams of Smart Rajshahi Innovation Challenge – 2023.
In the event, space was allotted to Simon Beach Restaurant Limited for construction of a five-star hotel, Future Tech for IT business and Real Star International Limited. Also, Weldy Life Point Limited, Mixbyte, Vartani, Meghnad Times, A2Z Biz have been allotted free space as startups in Joy Silicon Tower. At the same time, an agreement was signed between Future Tech, Netro Creative and Business Automation Limited.
The state minister, while speaking as the chief guest at the meeting held at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Hi-Tech Park Rajshahi, said that it will take another 5-10 years to fulfill the final goal of creating employment for about 10 to 14 thousand youth in the 31 acres of the park. 16 companies have been given 72,000 square feet of space in the 4 lakh square feet business space of Joy Silicon Tower located here. One more floor each has been allotted for Plug and Play and SmartUps. In this way, the development in this city in the last 50 years has improved 100 times compared to the last 10 years.
Palak said, we hope that this Silk City of Rajshahi will one day turn into a Silicon City of Liton Bhai’s dream. At least a few billion-dollar companies will be created from this park.
However, highlighting the success of private organizations in the management of these facilities, the state minister said that the government is never successful in management, maintenance and service delivery. This is why the Government of India has sold out the Air India.
The hi-tech park will run under private management
That is why the responsibility of resource management of each hi-tech park will be left to the private sector, said State Minister Palak. He said, I am getting income from private sector in Jashore and Dhaka; I am getting income from Kaliakoir and Sylhet.
