The Institute of Architects Bangladesh (IAB), jointly with KSRM have awarded the fifth KSRM Awards for Future Architects in the category of project presentation based on the best research paper. The first place was bagged by Fahim Ashfaq Farooqui of Chittagong University of Science and Technology (CUET); The second and third places are occupied by two students of Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET). They are Mahia Mustari Nausheen and Israt Jahan respectively.
The winners were given a memento and a check of Tk 1 lakh, 75 thousand and 50 thousand respectively.
Mir Manjurur Rahman, Chief Architect of the Ministry of Housing and Public Works handed over the prizes to the winners at the Institute of Architects Bangladesh (IAB) Center in Agargaon, in the capital city of Dhaka on Tuesday, February 13. At this time, he said, this initiative of KSRM and IAB is highly commendable. This award will motivate the students at a great extent. It is my hope that various groups of companies will come forward with such initiatives like other countries of the world.

IAB General Secretary Nabi Nawaz Khan said, the same idea works in view of the megastructures that are currently being inaugurated or under construction in Bangladesh. Architect Professor Khandokar Sabbir Ahmed presented the keynote speech at the award ceremony. IAB Secretary (Education) Architect Nowroz Fatemi delivered his opening speech.
KSRM, one of the leading steel manufacturing industrial groups of Bangladesh, awards three emerging, talented and innovative architects every year. In this regard, a 10-year MoU was signed between KSRM and IAB in 2019. Under that agreement, final year undergraduate students from 13 reputed architecture institutions of the country, recognized by IAB, participate in the award competition. The top three contestants from each educational institution participated in the final competition. This time, a jury board of five architects selected the best three from among the 35 participating student projects. The projects were exhibited at the IAB Center on February 10 from 10 am. The three-day exhibition ended on February 13.
