Inspired by NASA’s Apollo Moon landings over 50 years ago, the Great Lunar Expedition for Everyone (GLEE) will be a catalyst for a new generation of space missions. Bangladesh too is making satellites for NASA’s GLEE mission. 60 students and researchers from more than 20 universities of the country are making this satellite bearing the red-green flag at Walton Television’s ISO standard 7 quality cleanroom research lab in Gazipur of Walton Group.
The State Minister for Posts, Telecommunications and Information Technology Zunaid Ahmed Palak visited this program on Thursday in the evening. After inspecting the complete simulation of the satellite, the minister said that it has been possible to successfully transmit sensor data from one satellite to another at a frequency of 915 MHz.
During the visit, the researchers informed that, under this first satellite project prepared in the country, 37 functional tests and 5 environment tests of the satellite were successfully completed by completing the development phase of the satellite. By using advanced integrated chip technology, it has been possible to bring the satellite weight of about 20 kg down to 20 grams. It has 5 high-powered sensors that can measure the moon’s temperature, magnetic field, seismicity, dielectric capacitance and internal temperature of the satellite.
a2i, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Aviation and Aerospace University and Walton Television have jointly started this mission to build a space craft on the soil of the country by creating a link between academia and industry.
