Bangladesh-Malaysia Chamber President, FBCCI Director and Metronet CEO Syed Almas Kabir had a courtesy call on Md. Sahabuddin, the 22nd President of Bangladesh.
President of Bangladesh-Malaysia Chamber congratulated the newly elected President. Meanwhile, Syed Almas Kabir said that Malaysia is very interested in increasing trade and economic relations with Bangladesh. There is a huge demand for various food products including Malaysian palm oil, furniture, chocolate, fruits in Bangladesh. Malaysia’s exportable products include ready-made garments, jute products, plastics, light machinery and leather products. Almas Kabir emphasized the importance of sending skilled workers in response to the newly elected president’s inquiry about the Malaysian labor market.
The newly elected president Md. Sahabuddin thanked Almas Kabir for working in the development of bilateral trade in Bangladesh and expressed hope to participate in the “Showcase Malaysia” to be held this year. Besides, he urged the business community to come forward to increase exports by eliminating trade inequality.
It should be noted that the trade and economic relations between Bangladesh and Malaysia are long-standing. Bangladesh currently exports goods worth USD 337.8 million and imports USD 3.47 billion from Malaysia.
