Data from any sectors are now being used as raw materials. Without proper processing of data, sustainable development is therefore far from over. In such a situation, a training workshop on SDG Tracker and Metadata was held on March 27 with the aim of gaining awareness about SDG metadata and spreading information-based decision-making culture.
Hundreds of SDG focal officers from various government departments, representatives of universities and development aid organizations participated in the workshop held jointly by Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics (BBS), Aspire to Innovate (a2i) and UNICEF at the Statistics Building located in Agargaon of the capital.
The Chief Coordinator of SDG Affairs of the Prime Minister’s Office Md. Akhtar Hossain was present as the Chief Guest of the workshop. The Secretary of Statistics and Information Management Department Dr. Shahnaz Arefin and the a2i Project Director Dr. Dewan Muhammad Humayun Kabir were present as the special guests.
The Director General of Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics Md. Matiar Rahman presided over the workshop. He requested all concerned departments to play an effective role in achieving SDG, ensuring updated data and overall improvement of SDG tracker.
