The ten-day ‘City IT Mega Fair 2022’ started with the slogan ‘at the top of the technological ladder’, the day after the inauguration of the country’s first metro rail. Apart from the permanent store of BCS Computer City, the country’s largest computer market located in the IDB building of Agargaon in the capital; there were ten more stalls outside the boundary. Among the stalls were Internet provider Stargate Communication Limited and consultancy firm AHZ Associates.
Also, there were three models of Doel laptops made in the country at the stall of Bangladesh Telephone Industry Association. There are global brands like Asus, HP, Lenovo and Dell, computer peripherals like home monitors, game controllers brands Logitech and Shimo security technology products. There was also a Gigabyte Auras gaming pavilion.
Traders wanted to shop at the speed of metro rail. Maximum discounts, additional offers and gifts were given to fulfill that desire. Besides, there is a chance for visitors to win attractive prizes through raffle draw. Gift-giving made Thursday evening a gigabyte evening. The influx of visitors has brought a glimmer of hope to traders.
Regarding this, UTECH Infusion Ltd Managing Director Mashiur Rahman Raju said, BCS Computer City was in a slump for a long time, the presence of visitors in the fair showed us new hope. We are very happy. Due to the fair, the loss that was supposed to occur during normal times has been compensated. The leader of the company that provides complete smart home solutions commented that the fair has definitely protected the traders who were worried about the loss due to the relative financial condition of the people.
On Friday, the ninth day of the fair, the number of visitors was slightly higher than on other days of the week. However, there was no lack of interest of buyers and visitors to visit shopping and fairs. As the market is quite wide and tidy, the visitors who went to the fair or went shopping do not feel crowded. They were very happy. Shihab Ahmed, who came to the fair from old Dhaka, said that he came to the fair after reading the news online. The atmosphere of the fair impressed me. I bought a wireless mouse to work while traveling.
Visitors to the fair had an online gaming competition sponsored by MSI. Also, there was a drawing competition today sponsored by XP-Pen. Photography competition sponsored by Tenda Router. Besides visiting the fair, many people enjoyed this event.
Haseeb Rahman, working in a private company who came to the fair from Uttara, said that because there are many markets around, BCS computer does not come to the city. This time, as it was metro rail, I came easily. I came to this market after three or four years. Earlier you had to come here for computers.
Anas Khan, country manager of MSI Bangladesh, who participated in the fair, said that we have given discounts with every product. None of the visitors left empty-handed at Thursday’s Gigabyte evening. We are happy to make them happy. It is our success that we have won the hearts of visitors rather than sales.
Visiting the fair, it was seen that the ‘City IT Mega Fair 2022’ fair was very different from the normal fair. There was no other free type offer in the fair. Still, visitors and shoppers were conscious of buying Chanel and genuine products. In all nine days, the fair has transformed into a brand IT product fair. When asked how the sales of this brand, Smart Technologies Bangladesh Channel Sales Director Mujahid Al Beruni Sujan said, as the market dropped, the HP-Lenovo sold by us in the fair sold twice as much. We have backed with this fair. Everyone’s inner tension is gone. If this trend continues, I hope this year will be good.
