To make Sherpur district a part of Smart Bangladesh, the Sherpur District Unyan Sangram Parishad has presented 8-point demands, including technology-friendly universities, setting up of IT parks for the development of technology for border protection, and the use of technology for agricultural development in the district. On Tuesday (January 3, 2023) noon, the Chief Coordinator of the organization Mohiuddin Ahmed submitted a memorandum to the Prime Minister through Sherpur District Commissioner Sahela Akter. Sherpur Model College Senior Professor Masud Karim Badal, Sherpur District Reporters Unity President Maruf Rahman, Mehdi Hasan and others were present.
After accepting the memorandum, the Deputy Commissioner assured to deliver the memorandum to the appropriate authorities. It was demanded to declare Sherpur district as a smart district.
After handing over the memorandum, chief coordinator Mohiuddin Ahmed told the media that the government wants to make Bangladesh a smart Bangladesh by 2041. But it is never possible to develop the overall development of a country by keeping one district in the dark and it will not be possible to build a smart Bangladesh. Sherpur is the only district deprived of the way the government announced Digital Bangladesh in 2008 to make the whole country technology friendly. Sherpur district has not yet built any railway for communication, no technology-friendly university or Medical College has been built. There is no technology friendly industrial zone for industrial development management. Although there is a land port, there is still no modern communication system and development. Despite having huge potential in tourism, it has not yet been recognized as a tourist district. We want the government to make Sherpur district a part of Smart Bangladesh. We the people of Sherpur have never demanded food or shelter to the government. We still supply 25 percent to the agriculture sector. Despite having about six hundred auto husky rice mills in Sherpur and huge potential in the agricultural sector, the agricultural revolution has not been developed here. Development means only some development of the administration. But Sherpur district has not been developed in the way it needs to contribute to the economy of a district and the country. Despite having over 600 Auto Husky rice mills and huge potential in the agricultural sector, the agricultural revolution has not been developed here. Only some development of the administration has been done. But Sherpur district has not been developed in the way it needs to contribute to the economy of a district and the country.
