BGD e-GOV CIRT, a cyber security initiative of the ICT Division, handed over prizes to the champions and runners of the 6 cyber drills held in 2021 and 2022. On Wednesday (December 21, 2022), Senior Secretary of Information and Communication Technology Department NM Zeaul Alam handed over the award to the winners at the auditorium of Bangladesh Computer Council.
BGD e-GOV CIRT Project Director Tarek M Barkatullah was present on the occasion while Executive Director of Bangladesh Computer Council Ranjit Kumar was present.
The Chief Guest congratulated all the awardees besides thanking the BGD e-GOV CIRT for such initiative to build a capable army to strengthen the country’s sovereignty in the cyber world in the month of December, the month of Victory.
Mentioning the contribution of Bangladesh Computer Council and BGD e-GOV CIRT in achieving cyber security and capability in Bangladesh, Senior Secretary of ICT Department NM Zeaul Alam said that with the increasing challenges in cyber security, it has become a potential field. He expressed hope that the cyber capability of the country will be strengthened through the joint efforts of government and private institutions through various activities including cyber drills and encouraged everyone to participate in future cyber drill competitions.
While speaking as the special guest, Ranjit Kumar congratulated the awardees and the organizers and said that the goal of ‘Digital Bangladesh’ has been achieved as a result of making various civic services accessible to the people through digitization. At present the Government is working on the target of ‘Smart Bangladesh’ as per the instructions of the Hon’ble Prime Minister and the Information and Communication Technology Division, Bangladesh Computer Council and BGD e-GOV CIRT are playing a leading role in this.
In the concluding speech, President of the program Tarek M Barkatullah said that 3 cyber drills are being organized every year by Bangladesh Computer Incident Response Team (BGD e-GOV CIRT) to increase the capacity in cyber security and encourage the young cyber warriors of the country. Every year in the month of August inter-university cyber drill with the participation of university students, financial cyber drill with the participation of financial institutions in the month of October as cyber security month and national cyber drill with the participation of everyone on December 12 on the occasion of Digital Bangladesh Day. These cyber drills are organized with the objective of strengthening the cyber capabilities of the country and these activities will continue every year with the aim of meeting modern cyber challenges.
