Vinay Choletty, the head of WhatsApp Pay in India, has stepped down within four months of joining the company. He took over as head of the instant messaging app’s financial arm in September. But Choletti is not the first, earlier in September, Manesh Mahatme also resigned from the WhatsApp Pay as India head.
After serving for 18 months at the Meta-owned company, Mahatme returned to his old company Amazon. This time, Vinay Choletti was named in that team. About his resignation, Vinay said, “Today was my last day at WhatsApp Pay. As I sign off, I can proudly say that WhatsApp has considerable influence in India. There have been some very instructive experiences personally at the company over the past year. Here the company did a remarkable job in using some of the global first payments. One of which is ‘QR Ticket for Bangalore Metro on WhatsApp’. Choletti posted this on his LinkedIn page.
However, despite saying this, Choletti did not elaborate on his future plans. About his experience at WhatsApp he said, “I am now moving towards my new adventure. I strongly believe, WhatsApp will perform tremendously in digital financial transactions in India. I look forward to seeing the potential of the company in the coming years.”
