Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina inaugurated the Joy Silicon Tower, Bangabandhu Digital Museum, Cineplex and Sheikh Kamal IT Training and Incubation Center in Barisal at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Hi-Tech Park in Rajshahi at the touch of a tab from the Bangabandhu International Conference Centre.
The Prime Minister also unveiled the publication of QR Code Digital Bangladesh: Progressive Technology, Inclusive Development’ and Sheikh Kamal’s Graphic Novel’.
These 5 initiatives were inaugurated at the main event of the Sixth Digital Bangladesh Day on Monday, November 26. Digital Bangladesh awardees were also awarded at the program.
While speaking as the Chief Guest at the event, the Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina expressed hope that the government is working towards the goal of bringing Bangladesh to the ranks of developed countries in 2041, and that Bangladesh will become ‘Smart Bangladesh’.
That is why the government is working on four bases, she said, “We will make Bangladesh a developed country in the next 41 years. And that Bangladesh will be Smart Bangladesh. We will move from Digital Bangladesh to Smart Bangladesh.”
However, not only in 2041, but also in 2100, the delta plan should be made so that the Bengali delta is protected from the impact of climate, the country is developed, and the people of the country can live ‘beautifully, smartly’.
She also said, “Every citizen of ours, they will be skilled in using technology, smart citizens. With Smart Economy; That is, we will do all the activities of the economy using this technology. Smart Government; We have already done a lot. I will do that too. And our entire society will be a smart society.”
Highlighting the initiatives taken by the government in the last 14 years in the areas of skilled human resource development, ICT infrastructure, connectivity, e-government and industry promotion, the Prime Minister said, ‘No work has been ‘stopped’ in the development of Digital Bangladesh and connectivity in remote areas even during the Covid-19 pandemic. Everything we have done, but I will say… if my son Joy had not advised me, I might not have been able to do it.”
The Chairman of Standing Committee on Ministry of Posts, Telecommunications and Information Technology AKM Rahmatullah was present at the event as the special guest. Information and Communication Technology Division Senior Secretary NM Zeaul Alam delivered the welcome speech on the occasion. The function was presided over by the State Minister for Information and Communication Technology Zunaid Ahmed Palak.
