In order to turn the youth power of the country into an asset, the educators have called for the education system to be changed from certificate-oriented to skill-oriented. In this case, only math, English or science education is not enough. Frontier technologies or cognitive soft skills relevant to the fourth revolution must be learned.
The speakers opined so at the opening ceremony of “FutureNation Job Festival 2022” organized by Daffodil International University in Ashulia on Thursday.
More than 150 companies participated in this day’s festival with job offers for 19 thousand students of DIT.
While speaking as the chief guest at the opening ceremony of the festival, ICT State Minister Zunaid Ahmed Palak said, “I believe that according to the target of Future Nation, it will be possible to ensure the employment of three thousand students in DIT’s job festival. Hopefully, 1 million job opportunities will be created not only in Dhaka but across the country through this festival. That is why I urge the organizers to conduct such job fairs for the students of 2200 colleges under National University in the district towns as well. I will also request them to conduct necessary training and workshops for students there. That is why we have the Enhancing Digital Government and Economic Edge project under the ICT Division. From where we want to provide 20 thousand jobs in ICT sector with the help of World Bank. We hope to be able to meet the 1 million job replacement target by 2025 with the way infrastructural development is going.”
The state minister also said that “We will give the opportunity to use Sheikh Russell modern computer lab of ICT Divisiont for such job fair. They can use the infrastructure and equipment of 300 schools of future rich in AR, VR to improve the skills of students.”
The ICT state minister also said that the government is working with utmost importance on AI, robotics, microchip design and manufacturing and cyber security under the guidance of ICT advisor Sajeeb Wazed Joy to build a skill-based generation to build a knowledge-based innovative Bangladesh by 2041.
Palak said, my request would be that, Daffodil International University as a smart university will start working to provide skilled manpower and leadership with the approval of these four courses. If VLSI or necessary lab support is required in these four cases, we will do it from IECD division as soon as possible. It doesn’t matter if it costs from 1 crore or 5 crore taka. Because, we believe, an innovative solution can create a billion dollar opportunity for a country. We believe they can do this.
Daffodil International University Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. M. Lutfar Rahman presided over the program. The UNDP Bangladesh Resident Representative Ms. Van Nguyen, Grameenphone Limited Chief Corporate Affairs Officer Hans Martin Hoeg Henriksen, Daffodil Group CEO Mohammad Nuruzzaman, University Dean of Academic Affairs Professor Dr. Mustafa Kamal also spoke among others.
Daffodil International University Pro-Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. SM Mahbub ul Haque Majumdar also delivered a welcome speech. .
Grameen Phone, Banglalink, BRAC Bank, bKash, Pran Group, La Meridien, ICDDRB, BASIS, US Bangla Group, Creative IT, Roxy Paint, Data Soft, MetroSim, Akiz Group, TenMinute School are among the more than 150 employers participating in the Job Festival.
The festival, which started at Daffodil International University, Daffodil Smart City, Birulia and will conclude on Saturday, is jointly organized by Daffodil International University and UNDP’s FutureNation Project.
