After a continuous week of deadlock, the academic activities are starting from Monday at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman University of Science and Technology in Gopalganj. This decision was announced at the end of the teachers’ association meeting on Thursday.
As a result, teachers will not return to administrative activities immediately. This decision was taken in the general meeting of the teachers with the teachers’ association at the teachers’ club today. In the meeting, as a part of the ongoing movement on behalf of the teachers’ association, it was decided to suspend the issue of abstaining from academic activities and conduct all class examinations from next Monday.
In a statement signed by President of the teachers’ association Dr. Md. Kamaruzzaman and General Secretary Dr. Md. Abu Saleh, it is said that despite the class-examination going on from Monday, there will be a human chain on Sunday to implement the logical demands of the teachers. Administrative proceedings will be suspended until the claim is settled.
However, they will participate in administrative activities for urgent needs of students. From Monday, a sit-in program will be held at Shaheed Minar from 11 am to 1 am.
In this regard, the president of the teachers’ association Dr. Md. Kamaruzzaman said, there have been many misunderstandings. Whether the students had any interest at all, whether anything was discussed about the students, what happened to the hi-tech park, we will present these details to the students through human bonds on Sunday.
Our movement will continue with the issues that are there. We are not returning to administrative proceedings. However, academic activities will continue from Monday.
Earlier, since the last 9th instant, all academic activities were closed due to the announcement of closure of academic activities by BSMRSTU Teachers Association. Besides, the administrative activities of the teachers were closed.
