Facebook and fake news are buzz-words now a days. So besides data protection, you need to be careful while using Facebook. These cannot be prevented by laws technical engineers. For this, one should use one’s conscience.
The last session on the second day of the Bangladesh Internet Governance Forum’s (BIGF) three-day conference held on Friday, the seminar titled ‘Governing Data and Protection Privacy: Progress, Challenges, Opportunity and Way Forward’, the speakers expressed this opinion.
Shahjahan Mahmud, chairman of Bangladesh Satellite Company, the chief guest of the seminar, said that even though developed countries are vocal about freedom of speech, they do not need Internet administration. They conscientiously ensure Internet freedom. But in our country we trust Facebook without verifying any information. But Facebook information is not news. Therefore, the information on the Internet should not be trusted without verification. Awareness should be more important than legislation in data protection.
He also said that 12 crore mobile phones and 1.5 crore PCs are connected to the internet. Therefore, the risk of malware is more in mobiles than in laptops and PCs. So we have to be careful in using mobile phones.
Barrister Nazmus Saleheen presented the keynote article in the meeting moderated by Supreme Court lawyer Khandaker Hasan Shahriar.

Speaking as an honored guest, Assistant Attorney General Mahfuzur Rahman Likhan warned against the use of Facebook and said that social engineering is now being done on Facebook through deception. So you should be very careful while using Facebook.
