Programmers studying at MIT (Massachusetts Institute of Technology) in the USA became the champions of the 45th edition of Programming World ICPC by solving the maximum of 11 problems. However, the three gold medals of the event came to Asia. West Asia’s Peking University, South Korea’s Seoul National University and Japan’s University of Tokyo won the first gold medals by solving 9 problems.
Teams from the University of Warsaw, Carnegie Mellon University, ETH Zurich, Ecole Normale Supérieure de Paris and Seoul National University won silver medals for solving the same number of problems behind time.
On the other hand, the bronze medals was won by University of Technology NU, University of Oxford, St. Petersburg State University and National Research University Higher School of Economics by solving 8 problems.
Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur became the champion in West Asia. Successively won by the Arabian Institute of Alexandria. The team from the National University of Córdoba became champion in Latin America.
The results of the first programming Olympics held in Dhaka on Thursday night were announced at the International Conference Centre, Bashundhara. Meanwhile, ICT State Minister of Bangladesh Zunaid Ahmed Palak handed over the trophy to the winners. ICPC President Bill Poucher, Senior Secretary of ICT Division NA Zeaul Alam and other judges were present at that time.
