Dennis Anthony Tito, known as Dennis Tito, made headlines as the first tourist in space 21 years ago. He is in the headlines again. Dennis Tito will go around the moon.
Billionaire Elon Musk’s company SpaceX said the world’s first space tourists Dennis Tito and his wife Akiko have signed up to visit the moon aboard SpaceX’s Starship rocket.
Dennis Tito, now 82, first traveled as a private astronaut on Russia’s Soyuz TM-32 mission in 2001. He then spent about eight days on the International Space Station.
SpaceX’s flight is about a week-long journey, where the rocket will travel within 200 kilometers of the moon, even if it does not land on it.
The date of the starship’s journey to the moon has not yet been announced. But it could be early next month.
