In two separate meetings of teachers at Chattagram Government Women’s College and Ispahani Public School and College (10.10.2022 AD), Director General of National Science and Technology Museum Mohammad Munir Chowdhury urged the teachers to be morally strong.
He said, “Teachers have to fulfill their responsibilities with strict discipline. Mobile phones should not be used in the classrooms. Mobile addiction is wreaking havoc on the education system. Some teachers are using mobile phones in the class and this inattention of the teacher in the class is disrupting the teaching activities of the students. This is a serious crime. During a surprise visit to an educational institution, it was found that the doors of the classrooms were locked from outside. Teachers are busy gossiping in their common rooms while keeping students confined to classrooms without teaching. Such teachers should be punished severely and exemplary. Negligence in teaching is an unforgivable offense despite the development of communication system with facilities of modern technology and satisfactory remuneration.”
He further commented, “The teachers of earlier ages traveled to school on foot, sweating and burning under the sun and taught tirelessly. In this case, the head teacher or principal also has to play a strict leadership role as the head of the institution. If the head of the institution is in a strong role, the educational institution reaches the top. Teachers should be role models for the students, so that they get a place in the heart of the students. For this reason, there is a need for dedicated teachers and teachers who are motivated by moral ideals.”
The DG of national museum also suggested, “Teachers should come forward to save the modern generation from the scourge of mobile addiction. Parents complain from house to house; children are drowning in the mobile world, leaving behind the door to study. It is the responsibility of parents and teachers to protect children from this scourge of mobile phones. Students should be made aware of the harmful effects of radiation due to excessive mobile use. Mothers have introduced the custom of giving food to their mouths with mobile phones in children’s hands. It is destructive. Children and teenagers should be educated in religious education. Children should be made good citizens by obeying God’s rules and regulations and teaching discipline. Human life is not just to eat and live. Life should be valued by following God’s laws, because man has to return to the Creator with his own karma. Chain of command must be maintained in every educational institution. Every order of the authorities must be considered and implemented.”
The DG pointed out a sensitive issue and advised, “Conflict among teachers in educational institutions dims all the achievements of educational institutions. Teachers are respected in this society. Therefore, their behavior should be more exemplary than others and the standard of ethics should be superior. Only then students will be inspired to live an honest and ideal life and the country will move forward. By keeping students engaged in regular studies and science practice, they can avoid many crimes including mobile addiction.”
