State Minister for Information and Communication Technology Zunaid Ahmed Palak believes that the ‘DigiBox’ invented by a2i bears the signature of that ability on the way to build a self-reliant smart Bangladesh of local innovation.
He expressed so while speaking at the launch of DigiBox developed for e-commerce platform Daraz at ICT Tower on Tuesday.
While speaking as the chief guest, Palak said that a2i initially designed this box. Its technology, software and hardware are completely “Made in Bangladesh”. It is financed by DigiBox Limited. DigiBox is designed to serve 300 customers per day saving Tk. 500-100 per box once installed; which will save 5 lakh to 9 lakh taka per month.
The minister also said that the local e-commerce sector is expected to be 26,000 crore taka or 3 billion US dollars next year. Currently there are about 2500 e-commerce companies in the country and at least 50 thousand business pages on Facebook. For example, Daraz, one of the largest e-commerce marketplaces in Bangladesh and a partner in the DigiBox project, handles more than one lakh orders per day. Courier service company eCourier now delivers more than 3 lakhs every month.
