State Minister for Information and Communication Technology Zunaid Ahmed Palak said that the Hon’ble Prime Minister inaugurated the Doel project. That place of pride was ruined; we are embarrassed. The state minister thinks that whoever is responsible for this should be properly investigated and punished.
Zunaid Ahmed Palak expressed his opinion in the minutes of the 10th meeting of the 11th meeting of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on the Ministry of Post, Telecommunication and Information Technology held on Sunday (September 25) at the Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban.
In the minutes, Palak wanted to know the reason why the Doel project failed. There he said, Hon’ble Prime Minister inaugurated the project. That place of pride was ruined, embarrassed. He thinks that whoever is responsible for this should be properly investigated and punished. Then Mustafa Jabbar agreed with the State Minister’s statement about the Doel project. He instructed the secretary to look into the matter.
ICT State Minister Zunaid Ahmed wanted to know the reason for the failure of the Doel project in the meeting. Posts and Telecommunication Minister Mustafa Jabbar agreed with the State Minister’s statement about the Doel project and directed Secretary Md. Khalilur Rahman at the meeting to look into the matter.
He said, starting from the first shipment of Doel, all the points of failure of the project should be identified. A survey is being conducted to develop TSS as a digital device factory. Efforts are underway to save the institution.
Meanwhile, State Minister Palak said that Public Private Partnership (PPP) authorities are very positive. Telephone Shilpa Sangstha -TSS can invest through the private sector by declaring a hi-tech park without investing thousands of crores themselves.
It may be recalled that, about 10 years ago, the government started manufacturing affordable brand laptop ‘Doel’ which started production with the aim of providing locally made laptops with the affordability of the masses. The Telephone Shilpa Sangstha (Telephone Industry Corporation)- TSS is responsible. This Doel was a part of the current government’s Digital Bangladesh program. But after making some laptops, there were many complaints about their quality.
