Bangladesh Science Fiction Society Jagannath University branch has formed a full committee to develop the scientific thinking of the students of the University. The matter was informed in Tuesday’s circular signed by the organization’s President Jubayer Hossain Rahat and General Secretary Rafia Rahman.
Helal Uddin of Department of Computer Science and Engineering and Raihan Riaz of Department of Geography and Environment are Vice Presidents of the committee. Meherabul Islam Showdip of Statistics Department has been appointed Joint General Secretary.
Ibrahim Sheikh of marketing department is the treasurer of the committee. Tamim Mahmud of Computer Science and Engineering Department is the science and literature editor.
Among others: co-treasurer Md. Sulaiman, organizing secretary Md. Monirul Islam, Pallab Kumar Sarkar and Mrinmoy Roy co-organizing secretaries, Rezaul Karim the office secretary and Saurabh Roy has been selected the co-office secretary.
Abdullah Al Rafi Saqib, the publicity editor, Md. Syed Md. Al Amin and Ilma Afrin Kotha became co-publicity editor. Shahadat Hussain will serve as Cultural affairs Secretary.
Jubayer Hossain Rahat, the president in charge said, ‘We will continue to work to develop the scientific thinking of the students of Jagannath University. Many people think that scientific thinking is only for those who study science. Bangladesh Science Fiction Society, Jagannath University branch will work to get rid of this misconception.
Bangladesh Science Fiction Society, Jagannath University Branch, started its activities in 2019 with the slogan of ‘Today’s imagination and tomorrow’s science’.
The organization has been organizing regular science chats starting from various quiz competitions.
Three of the winners who participated in the quiz were given a trip to Kolkata by the Science Fiction Society. Apart from this, the organization has been conducting various activities including science competition, tree planting program and so on.
