Just one day before Eidul Adha, 35 lakh 30 thousand 732 mobile connections have left the capital Dhaka on July 8 in just one day to celebrate the holy Eid with their loved ones. Of these, Grameenphone has 15 lakh 83 thousand 332 SIMs, Robi has 9 lakh 75 thousand 613 SIMs, Banglalink has 8 lakh 49 thousand 460 SIMs and Teletalk has 1 lakh 22 thousand 327 mobile connections.
A day before Eidul Adha, Posts and Telecommunications Minister Mostafa Jabbar conveyed this information on his verified Facebook post on Saturday (July 9).
The minister had earlier said that the information was obtained from various mobile companies. However, many use multiple SIMs. Again there are many children or women in the family who do not use mobile. So how many people have left Dhaka cannot be compared with this number of SIMs left Dhaka.
According to the latest report of BTRC, the number of mobile users in the country till last May was 18 crore 42 lakh 30 thousand. Of these, Grameenphone’s current subscriber is 8 crore 49 lakh 50 thousand, Robi’s 5 crore 42 lakh 50 thousand, Banglalink’s 3 crore 82 lakh 50 thousand and state-owned Teletalk’s subscriber is 67 lakh 80 thousand.
