A few more trucks loaded with relief items are being sent from BTCL to Mohanganj and Madan upazilas of Netrokona district for distribution in flood-hit areas. BTCL, TeShiS, IB and technology company ZTE handed over 3580 packets of relief materials to the flood victims to the Minister for Posts and Telecommunications Mostafa Jabbar at BTCL Bhaban in Dhaka and Dhaka GPO on Tuesday and earlier today. This noble initiative has been taken by the Posts and Telecommunications Division.
Posts and Telecommunications Secretary Mr. Khalilur Rahman and BTCL Managing Director Dr. Md. Rafiqul Matin was present at that time. Among the relief items are
1065 packets of dry food and 400 packets of rice, pulses and oil will be distributed in Mohanganj Upazila and 865 packets of dry food and 400 packets of rice, pulses and oil will be distributed in Madan upazila.
Earlier, the Posts and Telecommunications Division had distributed 5,021 packets of relief goods in Khaliajuri of Netrokona and 1,000 packets of relief items in Shalla upazila of Sunamganj. It may be mentioned that the relief distribution had started in the flood-hit Haor areas being instructed by the Posts and Telecommunications Minister Mostafa Jabbar. Initiatives have also been taken by the Division of Posts and Telecommunications and its affiliates to send more relief.
In addition to conducting relief operations, the Department of Telecommunications has set up satellite hubs in the Haor areas in addition to activating fixed phones, mobile networks and emergency services.
