An agreement has recently been signed between the Department of Technical and Madrasa Education, ‘Nagad’ Limited and the Bangladesh Postal Department to provide stipends to technical and madrasa students. Through the agreement, students studying in technical and madrasas of the country will be able to receive their stipends through ‘Nagad’.
The main objective of the initiative is to distribute the stipend among the students in a short time and in a transparent manner through ‘Nagad’.
Additional Secretary of Technical and Madrasa Education Department Md. Moniruzzaman; Joint Secretary Md. Akhtaruzzaman; Senior Assistant Secretary Sabina Yasmin, and ‘Nagad’ Limited Executive Director Md. Safayet Alam and many more were present on the occasion of signing the agreement.
Technical and madrasa students do not have to incur any additional cost in withdrawing the stipend received through ‘Nagad’. As a result, students can go to any ‘Nagad’ entrepreneurial point as per their need and withdraw the stipend money for free.
In this regard, the executive director of ‘Nagad’ Limited, Md. Safayet Alam said, “The Nagad is successfully distributing government allowances and stipends with success and transparency by engaging in various types of financial inclusion activities. In continuation of this, ‘Nagad’ has been involved in the distribution of stipends to technical and madrasa students. We think that the students are benefiting by receiving stipends through ‘Nagad’ as well as the government is making great strides towards building a ‘cashless society’. Nagad will always be on the side of such initiatives to establish digital Bangladesh.”
Since 2020, the mobile financial service ‘Nagad’ of Bangladesh Postal Department has gained the confidence of the government by successfully distributing various types of allowances including stipends. The government entered into an agreement with ‘Nagad’ to distribute stipends and allowances to 12 million primary school students through ‘Nagad’, which was done transparently by ‘Nagad’. Later, in 2021, 300 technical and madrasas and 8000 teachers-staff-students were given government assistance of Tk. 5 crore through ‘Nagad’. In addition, the distribution of stipends and allowances for the purchase of educational materials to the primary school students started this June through the mobile financial service ‘Nagad’.
