False and misleading information is being used on Facebook and YouTube to create chaos among the people. Therefore, the local administration will take necessary action against such rumor mongers, said the Minister of Religion Md. Faridul Haque Khan.
He said that attacking the communal harmony of the country means attacking the independence of the country, attacking the dream of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu.
He was speaking as the chief guest at an inter-religious dialogue on Wednesday morning at the Satkhira Deputy Commissioner’s Conference Room.
The state minister said the people of Bangladesh are religious. People’s hearts soften when they hear about religion. Waz mahfil should be discussed in the light of Holy Qur’an and Hadith. It is not permissible for any party to campaign or make violent statements for political purposes. If so, legal action will be taken.
The state minister said the ministry of religious affairs was conducting mosque, temple and pagoda-based children’s and mass education activities. Through this, religious harmony and morality as well as respect for other religions, humanity and tolerance are being taught with emphasis.
Satkhira Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Humayun Kabir presided over the dialogue, which was organized by the Ministry of Religious Affairs to promote religious harmony and awareness. Deputy Secretary of Islamic Foundation Abdullah Al-Shaheen, Khulna Divisional Officer of Islamic Foundation Fazlur Rahman, Sadar Upazila Chairman Asaduzzaman Babu, Tala Upazila Chairman Ghosh Sanad Kumar, Press Club General Secretary Mohammad Ali Sujan, District Hindu Buddhist Christian Unity Council President Biswajit Sadhu, Various religious leaders including Kumar Sheel spoke in the dialogue.
The meeting was attended by district administration officials, chairmen of various Upazila Parishads, leaders of Imam Parishads, Alem-Ulama (religious scholars), leaders of minority communities, police officers of all police stations and media personnel.
