Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla, has been named Person of the Year by Time magazine. The influential magazine made the announcement on Monday, local time. In the announcement, Musk not only emerged as the richest man in the world in 2021, but also as one of the best examples of the great changes that have taken place in society, said Edward Felsenthal, editor-in-chief of Time.
“Person of the Year is a measure of influence,” he said in a statement on the election. Very a few people have been able to influence life on earth more than Musk. This may even apply to life outside of Earth.

In addition to Tesla, Musk is the co-founder and CEO of the spacecraft maker SpaceX. He also won the title of the world’s richest man this year. The company’s share price has jumped this year due to Tesla’s cut in the market. As a result, Musk overtook former top billionaire Jeff Bezos. His company Space X too has caught everyone’s attention this year. For the first time in history, SpaceX sent a spacecraft with only tourists. Brain-chip startup Neurallink and infrastructure maker Boring Company are also led by him.

In addition to naming Person of the Year, Time has named pop singer Olivia Rodrigo the “Entertainer of the Year”, US gymnast Simon Biles the “Athlete of the Year” and the “Hero of the Year” among vaccine scientists.
Earlier, in 2020, the magazine jointly selected US President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris as the Person of the Year.
