The press conference was presided over by NM Zeaul Alam, Senior Secretary, ICT Department. Leaders of ICT trade unions were also present at the event.
Speaking as the chief guest at the press conference, Zunaid Ahmed Palak said that the theme of this year’s Digital Bangladesh Day is ‘Achievement of Digital Bangladesh, benefits all the people’. He justified the theme mentioning that people now can reach their destinations by using ride sharing apps even if one does not have a vehicle. Without being a victim of fraud and harassment, more than 100 million citizens have been able to send money to their families and make financial transactions through their mobile financial wallets.
“In this way, the human rights have been ensured by overcoming corruption, waste and harassment by ensuring transparency and speed by overcoming the boundaries between rural and urban, men and women and young and old,” said the ICT Minister.
He further added that thanks to the foresight of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, the architect of digital Bangladesh and the architect of modern Bangladesh and her ICT advisor; an entrepreneur based in Rajshahi has now been able to outsource to a European-American multinational company to create employment for 700 young people living in the district town. Sitting in a village, a young woman is contributing to build a digital economy in the country by selling her products through e-commerce at home and abroad, bringing self-employment as well as family prosperity. In this way, more than six and a half lakh freelancers in the country are earning $ 750 million sitting at home. Amid Corona pandemic, 170 million people have benefited from digital transformation.
Only just in 12 years of continuous human resource development, access to affordable internet for all, establishment of digital government and development of technology industry, ‘Digital Bangladesh’ is now considered as an ‘exemplary’ example in the world, opined the youngest minister of Bangladesh.
