State Minister for Information and Communication Technology Zunaid Ahmed Palak has announced the construction of a state-of-the-art high-tech park on a 102-acre site on the banks of the Karatoa River in Bogra.
The announcement was made by the state minister at an exchange meeting with teachers and students of Pundra University of Science and Technology in Bogra on October 16.
Besides the high-tech park, Zunaid Ahmed Palak also announced the setting up of Sheikh Kamal IT Training and Incubation Center at a cost of Tk 100 crore in Bogra and the construction of an incubation hub at Pundra University of Science and Technology.
Noting that the government is working to implement Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s vision of decentralization of the whole of Bangladesh; the ICT state minister called for building a skilled generation based on skills, not mere certificate-based education.
He said Bangladesh has entered the era of the fourth industrial revolution. We cannot build a Bangladesh based on that knowledge-based, developed economy with labor alone. It needs to build a skilled manpower based on technology to build a knowledge-based economy. That is why we need to build a skills-based educated generation, not just a certificate-based education. Those who will acquire skills in education as well as in technology. They will not run after jobs. They themselves will create millions of jobs with new startups being entrepreneurs themselves.
Prof. Dr. Hosne Ara Begum Pundra, Chairperson of the Board of Trust of Pundra University of Science and Technology, Vice-Chancellor Md. Muzaffar Hossain and Managing Director of the Hi-Tech Park Authority Bikarna Kumar were a lso present on the occasion.
