JBS, the world’s largest meat processing company, has come under cyber attack following Microsoft’s threat. This has shut down some of JBS’s operations in Australia, Canada and the United States. Thousands of workers have been affected.
Consequently, the attack has raised fears of rising meat prices around the world.
The White House has claimed that a Russian terrorist group carried out a ransomware attack.
A White House spokesman said Tuesday that the FBI was investigating the matter, adding that “JBS has informed the White House that a Russian-based terrorist organization may have carried out a cyberattack on their computer.”
He said the White House was in direct contact with the Russian government.
According to JBS, hackers first took control of a computer through malicious software Ransomware. Then the money is demanded and if the payment is not made within the stipulated time, the files will be deleted.
JBS supplies meat to 150 factories in several countries around the world. This activity started from Brazil in 1953. The company has more than one and a half lakh employees all over the world.
