High-speed Internet Zipon Inaugurated in Khulna, Jashore and Satkhira
The State Minister for Posts, Telecommunications and Information Technology Zunaid Ahmed Palak has inaugurated high-speed government internet service ‘Zipon‘ in Khulna division and Satkhira and Jashore districts. He also gifted laptops to a total of 240 female IT service provider trainees of Kalaroa, Tala and Satkhira Sadar Upazilas included in the Her Power project in Satkhira. On the same day, the state minister inaugurated the ‘Tier-4’ commercial data center ‘Cypher’ of mobile operator Robi’s sister concern Axentec in Jashore.
After visiting Bangladesh Cable Industry Limited on Friday, February 23, the State Minister inaugurated Zipon’s new data service in one division and two districts. As a result, BTCL’s high-capacity Internet Zipon service with a capacity of 3072 connections was launched in Satkhira Telephone Exchange Building, Zipon Service with a capacity of 8000 connections in Khulna Telephone Exchange Building and Zipon Service with a capacity of 3000 connections in Jashore Exchange Building.
Earlier, the state minister had announced a special affordable package of Zipon in memory of the great language martyrs of February 21.
After visiting Bangladesh Cable Industry Limited in Khulna, while exchanging views with the concerned officials, Palak said that Smart Cable Industry should be developed for Smart Bangladesh. Smart asset management is essential for the smart cable industry. With this aim, Bangladesh Cable Industry Limited under the Department of Posts and Telecommunication will be developed as an institution suitable for the era of Smart Bangladesh. Palak instructed the stakeholders to take and implement effective initiatives to transform the organization into a more profitable one by keeping a balance between income and expenditure by increasing income and reducing wastage. The state minister directed Bangladesh Cable Industry Limited Managing Director Jagadish Chandra Mandal to take initiative to export cables abroad and to initiate quality verification certification.
Khulna Divisional Commissioner Md. Helal Mahmud Sharif and Company Secretary Md. Arifur Rahman along with senior officials were present at that time.
In the afternoon, Zunaid Ahmed Palak distributed laptops among 240 women trainees of ‘Her Power Project’ organized by Satkhira district administration. Tumpa and Nazmun Nahar spoke among the students. They demanded the creation of an IT park in Satkhira.
Satkhira Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Humayun Kabir presided over the event as a special guest. Member of Parliament of Satkhira-3 constituency, former Health Minister AFM Ruhul Haque, Satkhira-1 Constituency Member Feroz Ahmed Swapan, Satkhira-2 Constituency Member of Parliament Ashrafuzzaman Ashu, Awami League nominated Member of Parliament candidate Laila Parveen Senjuti, Satkhira Superintendent of Police Muhammad Matiur Rahman, District Awami League President A.K. Fazlul Haque, General Secretary of District Awami League and Chairman of District Council Md. Nazrul Islam and others were present.

At the end of the program, in response to the questions of the journalists, the State Minister of the Ministry of Posts, Telecommunications and Information Technology, Zunaid Ahmed Palak said that 2 million youths of the country have been employed in the digital sector. He said, ‘Digital services have reached people’s doorsteps. More than 2 million youths of the country have been employed through technology. The government has already managed to earn two million dollars from this sector. Also, all government services have been digitized.
On the other hand, while speaking as the chief guest at the opening ceremony of “Tier-4 Data Center Cipher” organized by Jashore Software Technology Park Axentec PLC, the state minister for Posts, Telecommunication and Information Technology Zunaid Ahmed Palak said that, Personal Data Protection legislation is in place, so that nobody can process and sell data without our consent.
He said, we have 13 crore internet users in Bangladesh out of 17 crore people. Every moment we are providing valuable data. If we can secure, store, localize and process this data, it will be easier to build data driven marketing and decision-making smart government systems. Many more business opportunities will be created in the private sector. Also, no one else can use the data of our country and citizens without our permission, ensuring our security.
Managing Director of Bangladesh Hi-Tech Authority GSM Zafarullah spoke on the occasion; among others MD and CEO of Axentec PLC Adil Hossain Nobel, Axentec Board Chairman Rajeev Shetty and Director Barrister Saheed Alam.
On the same day’s visit, the state minister inspected the progress of the construction work of “Knowledge Park, Khulna” under the project of establishing IT/Hi-Tech Park at district level (in 12 districts) by Bangladesh Hi-Tech Park of Information and Communication Technology Division at Tutpara Mauza of Khulna City Corporation.
