A ceremony took place to welcome the freshers and bid farewell to the passing out students of pharmacy department of Jashore University of Science and Technology (JUST) was held with various events including floral reception, giving souvenirs to outgoing students, discussion meeting followed by a cultural program.
In the gallery of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Academic Building of the University, the reception of the new students and the farewell to the outgoing students was organized on Saturday by the initiative of the Department of Pharmacy. JUST VC Professor Dr. Md. Anwar Hossain was present as the chief guest.
The VC urged the students to come forward with the aim of becoming a good pharmacist. He said, the pharmacy department is the department for producing skilled and talented pharmacists. To be a good pharmacist you need to be efficient and hard working. The goal of the country in the future is to earn foreign currency by exporting domestic medicines to the world market. For that you have to develop your skills. The world’s pharmaceuticals are now moving towards biological materials. So you need to have a clear understanding of biological materials. We have to be efficient and enlighten ourselves, the country has to be enlightened.
In order to strengthen the industry-academia relationship, Professor Dr. Md. Anwar Hossain said, if industry-academia linkage is not strong, then new discoveries are not possible. As the world moves forward, skilled manpower needs to be developed. Industry has to come forward to create skilled manpower. If there is no industry-academia match, the progress of this country is not possible.
The chairman of the pharmacy department Kishore Majumdar presided over the event, Dean of Faculty of Biology and Technology of the University, Prof. Dr. Md. Iqbal Kabir Zahid, President of Incepta Pharmaceuticals Limited AHM Kamruzzaman, Assistant Professor of Pharmacy Department Md. Jasim Uddin, students of the department Abdullah Shahriar Rizvi, Suzana Tahrim and others spoke. Assistant Professor of Pharmacy Department. Rashidur Rahman, Devendra Nath Roy, Kishore Kumar Sarkar, Lecturer Md. Nazmul Hasan Jilani and students of different years of the department were also present. The program was conducted by 2 students of pharmacy department: Maisha Rahman and Sabbir Rahman. In the evening, a colorful cultural program was organized with the participation of the students of the department.
