Industrial Innovation Center (IIC) of Daffodil International University (DIU) organized a seminar on ‘Enhancing the Quality of Technical Education for Career in Japan’ at DIU Campus Birulia, Dhaka on Thursday (26 October 2023). Japanese Ambassador to Bangladesh Iwama Kiminori was present as the chief guest in the seminar.
Additional Secretary of Expatriate Welfare and Foreign Employment Ministry Md. Khairul Alam and Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO) Country Representative UG Ando were present as special guests. Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) Chief Representative Ichiguchi Tomohide and Japan Bangladesh Chamber of Commerce and Industries (JBCCI) Vice President Sugawara Manabu were present as discussants in the seminar.
DIU Board of Trustees Dr. Md. Sabur Khan spoke at the seminar chaired by Professor Dr. M. Lutfar Rahman, Vice-Chancellor of the University. Daffodil Family Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Dr. Mohammad Nuruzzaman presented the main article in the seminar. The Dean of the Faculty of Science and Information Technology of DIU Dr. Syed Akhtar Hossain and Abu Taher Khan, Project Director of Industrial Innovation Centre spoke among others in the seminar.
While speaking as the chief guest, Iwama Kiminori, Ambassador of Japan appointed to Bangladesh, said that the relationship between Japan and Bangladesh is one of friendship and trust. In the continuation of that relationship, Bangladesh and Japan will move forward in the coming years with a clear vision of mutual cooperation, working together with practical steps to strengthen the partnership. He said, development of technical education is very important for a developing country. Japan continues to support the economic and technical development of Bangladesh through various donor organizations including JICA, JETRO; And this trend of cooperation will not only continue in the coming days – but new areas of cooperation will be added to it. He expressed hope that the seminar organized by DIU will play an important role in the exchange of students and teachers between the educational institutions of both countries.
Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Daffodil International University Dr. Md. Sabur Khan said that the main problem of the people of Bangladesh is a huge shortage of skills. Therefore, it is necessary to take comprehensive initiatives to develop the skills of the people of Bangladesh.
He said, Daffodil International University and Daffodil family have all kinds of facilities including physical infrastructure and other resources. There is no need for financial support for us. We need technical and technological support. He urged Japanese donor groups and various government agencies to come forward in cooperation with Daffodil University and the Daffodil family, mainly with technical and technical support.
Chief Executive Officer of Daffodil Family Dr. Mohammad Nuruzzaman said that for better opportunities in the Japanese job market, the existing gap in Japanese language learning should be reduced, emphasis should be placed on eliminating skills shortages, and work environment skills training, culture, etiquette and attitude training should be emphasized.
He added that this gap could be bridged by establishing Japan Study Centers, student-faculty exchange and mobility programs, and launching joint research and publications. The Daffodil family is already working on these issues and with the help of 25 Japanese partner organizations, more than 1,000 young people have been given employment opportunities in Japan.
