Women and E-Commerce (WE) won at the Smart Bangladesh Awards 2023 in the Best Organization (Private) category. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina inaugurated the Sheikh Russell Day and presented the Sheikh Russell Medal at Bangabandhu International Conference Center in the capital on Wednesday (October 18). Nasima Akhter Nisha, founder president of WE, accepted this award from the PM.
Regarding receiving the award, Nasima Akhter Nisha said, women’s entrepreneurship organization ‘WE’ is working to create women entrepreneurs online in villages and deliver local products to people. We women entrepreneurs are playing an important role in the country’s economy. This award from the Government of Bangladesh will give us more motivation to move forward. This time I will work to create online women entrepreneurs in villages on a larger scale. That process is already underway.
The founder of ‘Women and E-Commerce Forum’ (WE) further said, we are working despite many challenges. WE’s journey began on 24 October 2017. Now we have 14 lakh 38 thousand members. Among them, four and a half lakh are entrepreneurs. These entrepreneurs are contributing to the country’s economy.
This award has increased the responsibility at our part – said Nasima Akhter Nisha, founder and president of the organization of women entrepreneurs who received the International WITSA Award as well.
It is worth noting that – Women and E-Commerce (WE) is a non-profit organization of women entrepreneurs who received the Smart Bangladesh Award 2023. There are buyers and sellers in this group. As one is selling a product, again is also buying a product from another member.
