Robi informed on Sunday, that the operator has now applied L2600 spectrum in 50% of the sites where data usage is high. Area sites where the L2600 Spectrum is deployed have doubled network capacity and increased data speeds by up to 50%. This process will continue to improve the network experience across the country by deploying L2600 spectrum.
That said, doubling the capacity of a site means that the site can transport twice the data volume ensuring a better experience. As a result, VoLTE users can enjoy the best voice quality on their devices. It also ensures Robi’s readiness to launch 5G services using the L2600 spectrum by improving the data network. Robi bought 2600 bands of 60 MHz spectrum from an open auction last year.
Commenting on the overall improvement of the network experience, Robi’s Chief Corporate and Regulatory Officer Shahid Alam said: “Robi is continuously working to improve the quality of the network. For this, an average of 200 million dollars has been invested every year for the past few years. We believe that by deploying the L2600 spectrum, we can provide better services to our valued customers by ensuring a better network. We will continue this activity across the country.”
According to sources, network optimization activities have directly contributed to reducing call drop rates by around 60% for users of both Robi and Airtel brands compared to last year. Meanwhile, Robi’s overall Mean Opinion Score (MOS), which indicates the quality of mobile calls, has improved by nearly 50% since the start of this year, according to an internal customer survey.
