September 23 is observed as International Sign Language Day. On this day, you can enjoy the educational content of popular Tuktuki, Halum, Shiku and Ikri on Sisimpur’s social and digital platforms.
For this, Sesame Workshop Bangladesh (SWB), the maker of Sisimpur, has already created a new sign language and gesture language suitable for children in 13 popular episodes of Sisimpur. Apart from airing continuously on their platforms, special episodes of Sisimpur for hearing impaired children will also be aired on television channels.
The Society of the Deaf and Sign Language Users (SDSL), an organization working for the development of people with hearing impairments, has helped convert the episodes into sign languages.
Mohammad Shah Alam, Managing Director of Sisimpur, said, “Our goal is to reach out to every child in Bangladesh. As part of this, we have already published 10 storybooks of Sisimpur for visually impaired children in Braille and distributed them among the children. Now we are bringing a 13-episode special Sisimpur for hearing impaired children. We want to increase the number of episodes consistently.’
The official also thanked USAID Bangladesh for its cooperation in such an initiative.
