In the last six years, an investment of 900 crore Taka has come from the startup sector in the country. State Minister for Information and Communication Technology Zunaid Ahmed Palak has called upon the concerned parties to bring foreign investment in the fintech sector. And for this reason, he emphasized focusing on innovators on creating more innovative solutions like ‘bKash’. At the same time, the state minister also said that the ICT Division is ready for mentoring and funding to implement the initiatives that play the role of influencer at the national level.
The ICT State Minister Zunaid Ahmed Palak expressed his while speaking at the closing ceremony of the 4th Fintech Award ceremony at the 2nd Bangladesh Fintech Summit, the flagship event of Bangladesh Brand Forum at the Radisson Blu Dhaka Water Garden Hotel in the capital on Saturday.
Meanwhile, the state minister also announced that the ICT Division will accompany the Fintech Award as a regular Fintech summit from next year.
In his speech as the chief guest, Palak commented that ‘every citizen should be a pioneer’ in the implementation of Smart Bangladesh by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
Stating that the government has already built the necessary internet, digital ID and inter-transaction infrastructure to build the fintech ecosystem, the state minister also said that a solution can change the face of the entire nation. Such a bold innovative has been initiatiated by bKash. National Payment Switch has made this task easier. As a result, daily transactions of Tk. 25 crores are being made. More than a hundred young entrepreneurs have been developed in the country.
The 4th fintech conference also showcased its own innovative strengths while awarding unique initiatives of indigenous solutions to facilitate citizens’ lives.
With the courtesy of MasterCard, hosted by bKash Limited and in collaboration with Mutual Trust Bank, Upay, BASIS and The Daily Star, the award ceremony was initiated by Bangladesh FinTech Forum and organized by Bangladesh Brand Forum. The prestigious award was presented to the winners in the presence of around 500 individuals engaged in the fintech sector and representatives and experts from other key sectors.
