A free medical camp and day-long food distribution program was held at JUST campus on Saturday morning. On the occasion of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman’s martyrdom anniversary and National Mourning Day-2023, The Education Minister Dr. Dipu Moni rendered prescriptions to some patients in the free medical camp held at Dr. MR Khan Medical Center of JUST. She then distributed food items among the needy at Sheikh Russell Gymnasium.
While attending the discussion meeting, the education minister said that the unprecedented development of the country has been achieved due to the welfare of Sheikh Hasina. However, the father of the nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman laid the foundation for many things including education, health, communication, energy, science and technology in Bangladesh. During the 3 years and 7 months after independence, he created the future shape of Bangladesh.
While speaking as the chief guest, Dr. Dipu Moni said, ‘None of the four basic principles of the constitution, nationalism, secularism, socialism, and democracy, were borrowed from abroad. All were Bangabandhu’s political experiences, made in harmony with this soil and culture. If the revolution called by Bangabandhu against the capitalists and imperialists was implemented today, then the face of Bangladesh and the world would have changed today. But the Pakistanis and their allies could not accept it, due to which Bangabandhu and his family were killed on August 15, 1975.
The Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Md. Anwar Hossain, while speaking as the president of the program, said, ‘JUST family will always be with the honorable Prime Minister to strengthen the hands of the honorable Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, to repay the blood debt of Bangabandhu. JUST will continue such arrangements.’ He also strongly condemned BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir’s speech about the vice-chancellors of the university. The JUST Vice-Chancellor expressed his sincere thanks to those who directly and indirectly supported the implementation of free medical camp and food distribution program.
Jashore Medical College Principal Dr. HM Ahsan Habib, treasurer of JUST Professor Dr. Md. Anisur Rahman, Registrar Engineer Dr. Ahsan Habib and others also spoke at the opening ceremony. On the occasion of National Mourning Day, the President of Teachers’ Association presented a picture drawn by a child to the Minister of Education. Dr. Syed Md. Ghalib. The Dean of Yabiprabir Dr. Mohammad Mahfuzur Rahman, Dr. Md. Munibur Rahman, Dr. Md. Tanvir Islam, Dr. Md. Hafiz Uddin, Dr. Mohammad Jahangir Alam, Principal of Government Michael Madhusudan College Professor Morjina Akhtar, Principal of Jessore Government Women’s College Professor Amal Kumar Biswas, President of Jabiprabi Chhatra League Sohail Rana, General Secretary Tanveer Faisal and other invited guests including chairman of various departments, heads of departments were present. In this health camp, 60 doctors specializing in various fields provide medical care to around 2,000 patients. At the same time, as a part of community service, free food items were distributed to 500 needy, poor and backward people around the university.
