The State Minister for Information and Communication Technology Zunaid Ahmed Palak commented that Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s government will reach the desired goal of Smart Bangladesh by implementing the slogan of ‘Government, wherever needed’.
He said that, following the path shown by Bangabandhu, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina announced the vision of ‘Digital Bangladesh’ in 2008 to develop modern technology education by giving utmost importance to education. At the time it was criticized as an unrealistic idea, but today it is very real. Bangladesh is now a leading country in the world in technology based education. Technology education has spread through the establishment of Sheikh Russell Digital Lab in every educational institution. 2 million entrepreneurs have been created in the information technology sector by increasing 100% electricity and 5.6 million internet connections from only 40 percent electricity facilities to 13 crore connections. Eight thousand 863 digital centers in the country have simplified citizen services, prevented wastage of money and time, stopped harassment.
He conveyed these matters while addressing as the chief guest at the function of providing retirement allowance through SMS and inaugurating the call center of Teacher-Employee Retirement Facility Board in the private educational institutions at Singra Upazila Parishad Auditorium in Natore on Saturday.
Palak said that smart citizens are one of the foundations of building a smart Bangladesh by 2041. Only teachers can make their students smart citizens. Because teachers are like candles, they light up people, society, country and the world. They enlighten the students in morals, values, leadership and human qualities besides studies.
“While writing the constitution of the newly independent Bangladesh, the architect of the independence of Bangladesh, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, the father of the nation, has recorded 5 basic rights – food, clothing, shelter, education and medical care. Today the whole world is prioritizing ensuring these 5 fundamental rights; Bangabandhu’s philosophy is being reflected in all the plans like Millennium Development Goals and Sustainable Development Goals’ – added Palak.
