The results of the 4th Blockchain Olympiad will be announced on July 25. 4 teams will be declared winners in student and professional categories. Prizes will be handed over to the winners at the Krishibid Institute of Dhaka, but there will be a prize distribution ceremony in a hybrid model as well. 4 online seminars will be held on 23-24 July on the occasion of prize distribution.
Blockchain Olympiad Bangladesh Coordinator and Techno Haven Company Founder Habibullah N Karim conveyed this information in a press conference organized on Monday at the BCC Conference Hall of ICT Tower.
He said that the competition registration process started 10 days ago. So far, 40 have been selected in the panel round from more than 120 applications last year. Manpower in this sector has increased hundredfold in last 4 years.
In response to journalists’ questions, Habibullah N Karim shared an opinion on the use of Blockchain to prevent data theft and will launch its own Blockchain currency in Bangladeshi taka this year.
While speaking as the chief guest at the event, the ICT Division Secretary Md. Shamsul Arefin said, “We are unfamiliar with Blockchain. So this Olympiad will play an important role in informing about this. We are now on the brink of the fourth industrial revolution. At this time, this technology will be useful to prevent data manipulation and fraud. Through this we will be able to ensure the security of our data”.
BCC Executive Director Ranjit Kumar, who was present as a special guest urged everyone to ‘be aware of not keeping information carelessly’. Professor Mohammad Kaykobad presided over the event.
The president of the press conference shed light on the research and challenges of Blockchain as a new technology. He said, we have to nurture a positive culture. Science and technology should be given importance.
