Innovation of the youth will change the country: DG, National Museum of Science and Technology
National Science and Technology Week begins from Monday (19 June 2023) with fairs, Olympiads and quiz competitions. On the occasion of the 44th Science and Technology Fair organized by the National Museum of Science and Technology-NMST, this gathering of young scientists is being held at Agargaon in the capital. About 700 contestants from all over the country are participating in this three-day national science festival. They will present their best inventions in this year’s festival. The 7th National Science Olympiad and Science Quiz Competition is going to be held with these innovations. 155 stalls are being set up in the National Science and Technology Complex building on the occasion of the fair. People of various professions including teachers and parents will come to see the inventions of little inventors and scientists in the stalls. The new generation of Bangladesh will find their own problems in sustainable application of intellect and mind.
Mohammad Munir, Director General of National Museum of Science and Technology, expressed such optimism at the press conference organized on the occasion of the fair.
He said, “This science fair will bring revolutionary changes in the world of science and technology. The fair is a wonderful opportunity to encourage young people to practice knowledge and develop their innovative abilities. Keeping the young society away from all kinds of social crimes including obscenity, drug addiction, mobile phone addiction and keeping them engaged in the practice of science will develop their latent talent and open up new horizons of innovation. With the excellence of technology, it is possible to solve various problems such as food and medicine adulteration, environmental pollution, sea and road accidents and fires.”
It was informed in the press conference that the National Museum of Science and Technology organized the science competition earlier in 493 upazilas and later in 64 districts with the cooperation of Upazila and district administration. The Upazila, district and finally the division level winners are participating in the 44th National Science Week Central Competition. The biggest attraction of this competition is the presentation of various creative scientific projects or models by young scientists. These include fire fighting, smart agriculture, solar power, wind power, environmental pollution prevention, climate change, robotics, green urbanization, medical systems and numerous models. Science and Technology Minister Architect Yafesh Osman will be present as the chief guest at the awarding and closing ceremony on 21st June 2023.
