In the budget for the fiscal year 2023-24, the allocation for the Ministry of Science and Technology is proposed to be 13 thousand 607 crores. The allocation proposal for FY22-23 was Tk. 16 thousand 614 crore. However, Tk. 12 thousand 821 crore was allocated. According to the calculations, this time the allocation to the Ministry of Science and Technology is increasing by Tk. 786 crore.
On the other hand, Information and Communication Technology Division is getting Tk. 2,368 crore. Taka 1916 crore was allocated in the outgoing financial year. An allocation of 1 thousand 842 crore taka has been given in the revised budget. That is, the allocation of information technology department has increased by Tk. 526 crore.
However, in the proposed budget, the allocation of the Posts and Telecommunications Division has decreased by Tk. 53 crore. This time 2 thousand 434 crore taka have been proposed for this department. In the last financial year, the allocation proposal of this ministry was 2 thousand 487 crores. From there, 3 thousand 44 crores have been allocated in the revised budget.
Also, Taka 1 lakh 4 thousand 137 crores has been allocated in technical and madrasa department. Out of the 99 thousand 978 crore taka allocated in the last financial year, the amount received in the revised budget was 85 thousand 170 crore taka. According to this, the allocation has increased by 71 thousand 33 crore taka.
On Thursday (June 1) at 3 pm, the Finance Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal started presenting the budget. The Speaker of the National Parliament Dr. Shirin Sharmin Chowdhury presided over the session while the Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina was present on the occasion.
The money bill will be passed on June 25 and the budget for the next financial year on June 26. Before this, the parliamentarians of the government and opposition parties will participate in the discussion on the budget. There will be a total of 40 hours of discussion on the budget in Parliament.
