Microsoft founder and former CEO Bill Gates was once the richest man in the world. Despite losing that spot now, his name remains at the top of the riches list. The corporate world still takes any of his comments seriously. Bill Gates is saying that three days a week is enough work! Life is not just about jobs.
Bill Gates said, ‘The purpose of life is not just to have a job. If you imagine a society where you only have to work three days a week, then that’s probably fine.’ He also said, ‘In the future, manual labor will be done only by machines. As a result, people will reduce the need for physical work.’
In the ‘What’s Now’ podcast by Trevor Noer, Bill Gates shared his views on technology and the way it works in people’s lives. In response to the question whether artificial intelligence will threaten human employment, Bill Gates said, ‘AI will save people’s time in constructive work.’
Since the beginning of this year, the name of ‘AI’ has been seen in the headlines. This is a system that can do human work effortlessly. That too without anyone’s intervention. Many people also started saying that people will not be needed in a few days. AI will do all the work. In reality, however, such an incident happened. Thousands of people went to work in different parts of the world. Especially in the corporate world this anger fell at a severe rate. And AI was blamed behind everything. In this context, Bill Gates talked about working three days a week.
Bill Gates said, ‘If the progress of technology proceeds at a normal pace and if the government helps the citizens to adapt to those changes, it will have a positive role in human life. Everyone should increase their own skills to adapt to this change. Software increases the productivity of everything. Elderly people can also be well helped if they are freed from manual labor. However, there will always be a demand for manual labor even if it is matched with one’s own skills.
