Zunaid Ahmed Palak announced to start the Kumon curriculum at 300 School of Future from next year. He said, “I was afraid of mathematics and numbers when I was young. I wanted to be a rock star like Michael Jackson. Now I like to play games on mobile. Therefore, in the next year, Kumon curriculum will be introduced at 300 schools of the future by 2025, every Sheikh Russell Digital Lab will also introduce this exciting learning experience.
Through this, Kumon will be added to 13 thousand more schools.
ICT State Minister Zunaid Ahmed Palak informed so while speaking at the prize distribution ceremony among Kumon gold medal winners at Brac CDM Center in Birulia, Savar on Saturday.
Minister of State for Culture KM Khaled, Ambassador of Japan Ito Naoki, BRAC CEO Asif Saleh, Managing Director Lady Sarwat Abed, National Baseball Team Coach Hiroki San and others were present.
In the ceremony, Among 330, 84 gold awardee from 5 BRAC Kumon schools of the country were handed over by the guest today.
At the request of the Minister, the Japanese Ambassador Ito Naoki presented a tagore song- Satya Sundara…, imitated Kumon Jai by promising to build a green garden for children. He said, I hope the Japanese Kumon method of education will be adopted in the national curriculum as well. It will prove to be a model for building future skilled manpower.
Asif Saleh while speaking as the president of the program said that, ‘life is not a war, but a journey’. three more Kumon schools will be established this year to improve cognitive skills through mathematics, English language and logic education. He expressed his gratitude for the ICT State Minister’s interest in spreading this education.
The State Minister for Culture expressed his gratitude to State Minister Palak by calling him the Minister of Ministers for building Digital Bangladesh. KM Khaled said, I also had fear of numbers and mathematics. Kumon will remove that obstacle.
He said, Japanese citizen Taru Kumon is the proponent of ‘Kumon’ method. In 1958, this maths teacher invented this novel method to improve his son Takeshi’s math skills as he was weak. In this way, students can easily learn mathematics and English. Students progress progressively through this method at different stages or levels. Currently, 4 million students in 60 countries around the world are gaining proficiency in mathematics and English through the Kumon method.
Greeting and congratulating the students and parents of the 4th annual ASHR (Advanced Student Honor Roll) certificate organized by BRAC-KUMON, KM Khalid also said that BRAC is spreading the Kumon method to teach mathematics and English easily to the children of Bangladesh. I applaud them for that. The State Minister praised the various initiatives and activities of BRAC for the socio-economic development of Bangladesh.
In the event, BRAC Kumon chief Nehal Bin Hasan said that Digital Kumon has recently started in Haluaghat, Chittagong through phablet and silence pen for underprivileged children. We will introduce more 20 Kumon school in the country by this year.
