Daffodil Institute of IT (DIIT) paid glowing tributes to the country’s founding president and Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman marking His 47th martyr-dom anniversary and National Mourning Day with due respect recalling the August 15, 1975 carnage, when Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman was killed along with most of his family members.
To mark the day Daffodil Institute of IT (DIIT) organized a discussion meeting on August 22, 2022 at 71 Milonayoton of Daffodil Education Network at Dhanmondi in the capital. Education Minister Dr. Dipu Moni, MP, was present in the program as the chief guest while Professor Dr. Md. Mashiur Rahman, Vice Chancellor of National University, Bangladesh was present as the guest of honour.
Presided over by Dr. Md. Sabur Khan, Chairman, Daffodil Family, Professor Dr. S. M. Mahfuzur Rahman, Honorable Chairman, Governing Body, DIIT and Mr. Mohammad Nuruzzaman, CEO, Daffodil Family were present as the special guests in the program.
Addressing as the chief guest Education Minister Dr. Dipu Moni, MP said that the defeated forces of 71 killed Sheikh Mujibur Rahman because he wanted to form a non-communal society without discrimination and exploitation. She also said that during the rule of Awami League, the overall development indicators remain upward and when others come to power, the overall development indicators become downward. He compared it to a monkey climbing on a oily bamboo stick and emphasized on the continuation of the Awami League government to keep the process of continuous development moving.
She also said that many people say that the standard of education has gone down. But I don’t see it. Many people say that the quality of education in the capital is one, but in the village is another. So if it was, then only students from Dhaka would have done well in various Olympiads. But we see that Khulna, Sylhet and district level students are also doing well in these competitions. She urged the educational institutions to pay special attention to the standards of world ranking.
National University Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. Md. Mashiur Rahman said, Bangabandhu had to stay in prison for 12 years for where we are today. He also said, keeping Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman in our hearts, we want to form a humanitarian, ideal-based welfare system where an egalitarian society will be created.
Dr. Md. Sabur Khan, Chairman, Daffodil Family in his speech thanked Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina for her visionary decision to withdraw VAT tax from computers and accesories in 1998 and said that the decision of that day helped the prime minister to build today’s ‘Digital Bangladesh`. He urged the students to make maximum use of laptops to develop themselves suitable for the international job market.
At the end of the program Education Minister Dr. Dipu Moni, MP handed over educational instruments to the meritorious students of Daffodil Institute of IT.
